A multi-disciplinary background underpinned by degrees in Electronic Systems Engineering, Biomedical Instrumentation Engineering and a PhD in Interactive Evolutionary Computation, enable me to lead on projects encompassing a range of technical challenges. My recent portfolio of projects includes robotic and ambient sensor-based assistive technology to support older adults, Computer-Aided Design tools for sustainable construction and locative media apps to support student learning. My research involves taking a person-centred approach to explore creative design solutions that are not only functionally effective and efficient, but can also result in enjoyable and satisfying user experiences.With a research portfolio spanning 20 years, I have well established project management, networking and research skills, developing collaborative projects with partners from a range of commercial and industrial enterprise from the UK and across the EU.I am a skilled designer of learning experiences in the higher education sector, leading on innovative teaching in Interaction Design, exemplified by a faculty “Excellence in Teaching” award in 2010 and nominations for university innovation and student-led awards in 2011, 2012 and 2014. I am a registered Higher Education Academy Practitioner.My key personal strengths are an inquisitive and creative mind that never tires of learning, accompanied by a strong work ethic and attention to detail. I have highly developed communication and facilitation skills, honed from over 10 years of experience of working with students from diverse backgrounds.
