About Pramod Mathur
Dr. Mathur is internationally known for his research in swine genetics and genomics.through his research in the Netherlands, Canada, Germany and India. Dr. Mathur joined the Topigs Norsvin Research in 2009 and is leading research in boar taint, health, robustness and animal welfare. He lead the use of genomic selection to produce NADOR sires that are widely used in Europe to stop castration, enhance feed efficiency and reduce boar taint odor in pork. Prior to that, he was Chief Geneticist of Canadian Centre for Swine Improvement. During 12 years of his work in Canada, he was a member and director of several national and international organisations. He led the establishment of the national DNA bank for swine, development of Science and Innovation Strategy and participated as a member of the International Swine Genome Sequencing Consortium. He received the Industry contribution award for his support to the Canadian swine industry . Prior to moving to Canada, he worked at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany for 10 years and successfully completed projects in collaboration with institutions in Belgium, Italy, Malaysia, India, Nigeria and China. He has published several research papers, written book chapters and given more than 20 invited presentations at national and international scientific conferences in North America, Europe and Asia. He has also given training courses on swine genetic improvement in China and other countries to participants from universities and government organizations.

I have written several articles in newsletters and made many presentations at producer meetings. Twice a year, I have provided updates on latest technological developments in Canada, US and Europe to my board of directors and suggested research directions for CCSI. My approach in conveying complex research topics in simple terms for the benefit of pig producers was very much admired by my board of directors and other producers.
