In the Programmable Biology Group, we integrate algorithms and experiments to generateprogrammable protein-based platforms for genome, proteome, and cell engineering.

Gameto is a new breed of biotechnology company in female reproductive longevity. Through cellular reprogramming we have developed an ovarian therapeutic platform focused on eliminating infertility and menopause. We are on a mission to improve women’s lives by addressing the physical, hormonal and mental changes experienced at the end of a woman’s reproductive life.

UbiquiTx, Inc. focuses on the development of computationally-designed protein fusions that can both bind to a target of interest and tag it for targeted intracellular degradation. Our design pipeline can further be scaled to almost any pathogenic target of interest. The combination of these computational and experimental platforms, coupled with changes in societal and regulatory perspective on healthcare following COVID, have provided a unique opportunity for such gene therapy technologies as ours.

Working in the Boussiotis Lab at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, I accomplished various, distinct research goals:1. Determined the mechanism via which CD4+ T Cell co-inhibitory receptor PD-1 alters T-cell metabolic reprogramming.2. Elucidated the distinct roles of the ITSM and ITIM domains of PD-1 in regulating interactions with SHP-2, ZAP-70 and Lck, which modulate PD-1-mediated inhibition.3. Mapped the distinct reconstitution patterns of specific cytokines after double umbilical cord blood transplantation in patients with hematological malignancies.

Working in the Joshee Lab at Fort Valley State University, I studied the medicinal plant Scutellaria barbata, whose flavonoids can generate anti-tumor immune responses, as I developed genetic transformation and micropropagation protocols.
