Researcher in Theoretical & Applied Fluid Dynamics Laboratory. Designed, fabricated, and optimized ocean drones consisting of a sail, rudder, keel, propeller, wind vane, and hull that contains electronic components. Designed and 3D printed waterproof mounts for the motor controller and battery. Machined new sail mounts and shafts to fit a bearing with protective o-rings. Assembled new drones using fasteners as well as sealant, glue, and other waterproof methods.

Designed drone-mounted hodoscope that houses plastic scintillators to identify minerals by detecting muons passing through Earth. Created rotation gearbox and locking mechanism in CAD; performed calculations for weight considerations and very fine angular control.

Designed parts of full suspension mountain bike using CAD software (Autodesk Fusion 360) and created engineering design drawings for manufacturing. Fabricated parts in the ME Student Machine Shop using machine tools including lathe and mill. Goal is to design, build, and ride bikes.

Designed modifications to the parking brake to prevent deformation of the master cylinder under required load conditions. Used CAD software (SolidWorks) to adjust the parking brake assembly to accommodate the increased cylinder bore diameter for increased brake force. Worked with a team of students to design, build, and race solar-powered vehicles.

Led mechanical design and fabrication for a 50-person team through FIRST Robotics Competition season. Trained and mentored new members in designing, prototyping and building robots; coached them on the use of various fabrication tools and CAD software. Prepared teams through intramural competition where each team fabricated their own robot.

Controlled tricycle mobile robot to navigate with monocular camera vision. Created model of tricycle using online CAD tools and simulated robot motion using Python and CoppeliaSim. Solved kinematic model of tricycle and calibrated vision sensor to find pixel and world object coordinates. Worked with UCSC computer engineering professor.

Analyzed change in air quality index for four major pollutants in 50 states from 2000 to 2016. Configured code environment to read large dataset from EPA. Generated 16 graphs in order to produce results on severity of air pollution in U.S. Project results: CO and NO2 pollutants have decreased while O3 and SO2 have stayed stagnant.

Conducted research to model and improve electric power grids using large-scale batteries. Aimed to ensure they meet consumer demand, reduce adverse effects on the environment and promote renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind energy. Used techniques like ARIMA to predict power demand in California counties. Collaborated with PhD mentor.

Analyzed large datasets of global and regional climate change data from 197 countries over 250 years; used multiple libraries to identify climate change trends. Procured source data from Berkeley Earth. Compared regression models and identified linear trend of exponential temperature increase. All but one region have increased in temperature.

Transformed digital content under PhD mentor using Neural Style Transfer to adopt visual style of one image to another. Created artificial artwork by transferring appearance of famous paintings to photographs. Used Keras library and VGG19 network. Gained exposure to workings of deep fakes.

Analyzed large dataset provided by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and investigated problems faced by refugees and migrant workers. Created graphs visualizing the metadata of migration incidents. Utilized Python libraries to determine causes and locations of migrant fatalities.
