My wife needed to do an intervention. I was constantly taking on new projects and over-working to the point that it became a genuine concern and hurt my family. I wanted to be present with my loved ones, be a great doctor, and work enough to reach my financial goals, but I also had big dreams I couldn’t let go of. I needed a system – a new way of getting things done. You see, I’ve always been an ambitious person, but one of my most important goals was to spend quality time with my kids. Growing up, I resented my dad for working so much and going on frequent business trips instead of home with us. It wasn’t until that intervention that I realized I was doing the same thing. But I had my identity so tied up with being a Doctor that I didn’t know how to take a step back, let alone pursue my other goals without completely burning out.
