Conducting a "School health program in Nepal" (Kavre district) which includes nutrition and oral health. Performing search and review of published and grey literature. Developing the intervention plan based on the literature review, drafting manual for teachers, education materials for children and interviewing/discussing with the research team and relevant stakeholders. Preparing and submitting the research proposal to the research ethics committee in Nepal for ethics approval. Coordinating, communicating and organizing necessary preparation for baseline data collection and organizing logistics for pilot school health intervention. This is at the Department of Public Health and community programs at Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu University Hospital, Dhulikhel in collaboration with Tokyo Women’s Medical University (TWMU) and Central Queensland University (CQU).

Conducted a research project on Developing Health education manual for people with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) especially Diabetes, led by Community Health Workers (CHWs) in Nepal (Kavre and Nuwakot districts). Conducted KIIs and IDIs for stakeholders and CHWs along with baseline and endline data collection for oral health status. This was at the Department of Public Health and Community Programs at Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu University Hospital, Dhulikhel in collaboration with Tokyo Women’s Medical University (TWMU) and Central Queensland University (CQU).

Worked as a facilitator for project POSHAN school nutrition bootcamp conducted by SOCHAI (Social Changemakers and Innovators) in collaboration with UNICEF and Government of Nepal. This was a part of testing school-based interventions for improving adolescent nutrition by giving training to the students (class 7-9), out of school-community members (aged 10-24 years) in Sarlahi (Bagmati, Hariwon, Barathawa Municipality), to implement an innovative youth-led model to build capacities and to assess the replicability of the approach in all municipalities of Nepal. We also helped to promote micronutrient supplement and deworming prophylaxis including nutrition education among school aged children in selected schools and communities under the municipality.

Mentoring one of the fellows as a part of a truly interdisciplinary fellowship that focuses on innovative solutions to Nepal’s (or global) complex problems and come up with an innovative solution to critical issues.

Undertaking the assigned work of data collection under baseline study ‘Youth-led socio-economic research project in COVID-19’ in Kathmandu District. This included data collection for health and nutritional status for children under 5 years and mothers. Facilitating in data collection process and analysis of baseline data, together in close collaboration with ALIN, SOCHAI and its team.

I was up taking a patient-focused role that deals with assisting during procedures, sterilising instruments, discussing and promoting oral hygiene to patients, inserting the details of their records electronically, schedule appointments including some administration roles.This has helped me maintain a balance between interaction with people whilst also developing my office-based knowledge.This has also helped me become a good communicator while I face patients and be responsible for their care and wellbeing.

I completed my internship as a part of my University placement focusing on Health Promotion and advocacy for health. The work that I did resembled that of a Community Development Officer (CDO). I was reaching out to sports clubs influencing change in policy for the responsible use of alcohol and drugs along with change in the menu of canteens for better nutritional approach. Other roles included studying and reviewing proposals for liquor licensing to see if they were eligible.

Worked as a Fund-raiser promoter to end poverty through child sponsorships and other development programs.

I worked as a Dentist at National Dental Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Nepal for two years. My responsibilities included meeting with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, performing regular cleanings and other preventative procedures and establish a plan for better dental hygiene. Perform dental procedures such as filling cavities, extractions, root canals and crown insertion. Taking X-rays and prescribing medications for dental problems such as pain medications or antibiotics. I worked mainly in the Department of Orthodontics which dealt with the correction of teeth that are misaligned or those with an improper bite (malocclusion).
