Centre for Development and Research (CDR) is a registered, not for profit organisation working for the tribals, mainly in Adilabad district, since 1983. It made significant interventions in improving the well being of the tribal families in Adilabad district particularly in the core tribal mandals of Jainoor and Siripur(U).CDR was responsible for assisting the tribal women in 41 villages of Jainoor and Siripur (U) mandals to form the first Self Help Groups (SHG) in 1983 and guide them to become strong, independent entities. The SHGs have spread in a State wide movement in the later years.CDR assisted the tribal community in the 41 villages of Jainoor and Siripur (U) madals prepare the Village Development Plans for helping the Govt to partner a people governed programme. These Plans, with 10% people’s contribution were executed with the help of the ITDA, Utnoor during 1992-94. This decentralised village planning experience of CDR made an important contribution to the community centred 'Janma Bhoomi' programme of Govt of Andhra Pradesh, implemented during the years 1994--2003.
