The course was a cut and paste from internet and few buzz words. "It was a surprise to see an MSc and BSc Bioinformatics course permitted without a regular faculty in Bioinformatics". May be this is usually the case else where too. b) Analysed & Consolidated Agilent based MeDIP Microarray data which never went through the right and stringent quality assessment for the past 3 - 4 years. The project is about identifying relationship between Ayurveda Classification of Dis-ease subjects and their possible relation to methylation patterns in the subjects' genome. c) Identified the shortcomings in the microarray protocols which have been followed for almost 4 years. As expected - the management had reservations to accept the TRUTH.c) Discovered and developed a method to quantify the quality of an Agilent Chip - needs some more work.d) Deviced a methodology to differentiate between useful intensities vs outliers from within a chip - some work is pendinge) Mentored at least 2 student projects (a genomics and a systems biology project) and extended a helping hand in techniques/tricks/strategy/planning in other student projectsf) Got introduced to teaching and training systems biology - PRACTICALLY, besides regular teaching assignments.g) Encouraged some innovative products and solutions from the students. -

The other project was on discovery of tissue (HUMAN) specific biomarkers especially TFs from a normal human microarray(Affy) dataset - very interesting initiative. However, very difficult as Quality of Chips looked very very bad. Now, could publish a research article on transcriptomics taking into consideration a small subset of the above goal.
