My responsibilities within this role included:Conducting a thorough analysis of the ERCOT and SPP wholesale electricity markets, covering aspects such as supply and demand dynamics, price trends, regulatory changes, etc.Gathering and organizing pertinent data from diverse sources, including market reports, industry-standard databases, and internal systems.Forecasting electricity market conditions and proficiently utilizing internal models and algorithms tailored to meet the client’s needs.Key areas of focus:• Develop mid-term and long-term supply and demand projections, evaluate the generation interconnection queue, and assess the penetration of renewable and battery energy storage projects.• Collaborate with the production cost modeling team to formulate reference and alternate price forecast scenarios.• Develop long-term wholesale electricity market price forecasts.• Develop long-term merchant revenue forecasts for standalone and hybrid battery energy storage projects.• Support utilities, project developers and investment banks/tax equity partners in navigating complex energy market rules, identifying opportunities for energy storage, forecasting project revenues, and optimizing investments.
