Prashant Kale is currently Professor of Strategic Management and Head of Health Care Initiatives with the Jones School of Business, Rice University. Before Rice, he was a full-time faculty with the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. He has also been visiting faculty at the Wharton School, the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, the Indian School of Business, and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.Prashant’s research and teaching focus on Corporate Strategy, Growth Strategies, Strategic Alliances and Mergers and Acquisitions and he has written on these topics in reputed international journals. His research has received numerous international awards and he has also received over 20 awards for excellence in teaching. He has also been rated among the ‘Top 10 Professors in US Business Schools’ by Bloomberg Businessweek. Before returning to academia, Prashant has worked in the industry for several years with companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Siemens, ICI Plc., in different countries and with the Tata Group in India. As an academic, apart from research he has been engaged in consulting and teaching assignments on topics related to Strategy, Growth and Innovation with companies such as Royal Dutch Shell, General Electric, Philips, Daimler-Benz, Accenture, EY, Pfizer, Cargill, Statoil, Qualcomm, Bausch & Lomb, SKF, the Tata Group, ITC, RPG Group, AB Birla Group, Bharat Petroleum, Dun & Bradstreet, Skoda, US Steel, and many others. He has also been a Board Member or mentor with some venture funds and technology start-ups.
