Hello, I’m Prashant Lingam, co-founder of Bamboo House India, an innovative social enterprise based in Hyderabad.In 2006, driven by a passion for social impact and environmental sustainability, I embarked on a journey to merge these two critical areas. My mission was to support and uplift often-overlooked communities, including bamboo artisans and waste pickers, while championing eco-friendly practices.At Bamboo House India, we go beyond traditional approaches to create sustainable and affordable livelihood & entrepreneurship models using bamboo, agri , textile & plastic waste. Our work encompasses green and recycled furniture, interiors, and handicrafts, housing, crafts etc not only addressing environmental challenges but also generating meaningful employment opportunities for rural and tribal communities. By transforming natural & waste into valuable resources, we are fostering economic growth and social empowerment.Our socially driven initiatives have resonated globally, earning recognition and features in over 1500 local and international media platforms such as Brut, Entrepreneur, BBC, World Economic Forum, French, Russian, Australian media to name a few. The innovative approaches we’ve developed have been studied and praised by leading academic institutions, including Harvard, Cornell, and ISB. Furthermore, our work was highlighted in a video by the US Consulate, showcasing the significant impact of our projects.I'am humbled to have received over 20 entrepreneurial awards, recognizing the transformative impact of our work.
