The seven years here were days of rich learning and absolute fun. Overseeing the digital and social functions from a strategy and creative perspective, I also chipped in on social analytics and new business development. The analytics gave me the rare opportunity to mine insights and pain-points that made creatives purposeful and incisive. I also did work.

Matrimony.com runs some of the largest and most successful websites in India. As Web Producer, I had to look after the day to day operations of these websites, which meant managing everything, from number of visitors, to registrations, to content architecture to analytics and therefore designing promotions and campaigns. Here, I also doubled as the brand.

A part of JWT, RMG Connect handles the direct marketing and digital needs of some of the largest brands in India. This was serious exposure and the scale of operations on these brands was truly mind numbing. Here, I also worked on non-conventional media to support a 360-degree approach to a brand’s communication.

I helped set-up a boutique agency, one of the earliest digital agencies. In some ways, this was an outlet for my entrepreneurial zest. Working mostly with start-ups here, this experiment was the litmus test, for both my knowledge on advertising as well as applying that expertise to create some hard working communication for some very demanding clients.

Euro was truly my first exposure to the online world. Having setup in the 90s, this was one agency that saw the potential of online communication. Besides, our clients here were also mostly from the technology space. So the influence was but natural.

The belief at Contract those days was, we belonged to the university of advertising and boy, was that some learning. It was here that I understood the simple truth that good creatives are a result of great strategy.

This is where it all began. The first taste of working in an agency, the first piece of writing, the first time falling in love with an idea, the first pitch, the first ad release and so on. Work was fun and this is where I decided, advertising was my calling.
