Stc - Mobile Money For Conditional Cash TransfersWorld Bank Group Apr 2014 - Sep 2014Washington, Dc, UsBy use of innovative mobile money services, the Mozambique Ministry of Education wanted to build a model for the payment of teachers’ salaries through mobile phone, into their mobile money accounts. The Ministry of Education requested the Bank's assistance in piloting this model in 25 schools located in two districts. Once successful, the piloted model was rolled out to around 70 thousand teachers and many other public servants and rural workers. I had to recommend of a suitable mobile/electronic payment mechanism and pilot execution plan for payment of teachers’ salaries in remote districts based on necessary information gathering and diagnostics. This was followed by the approval of the payment mechanism, and successful testing and trial run. After successful implementation and a final report on implementation, impact, lessons learned from the pilot and recommendations for nationwide scale up were created. -
