Working as a Chief Medical Officer at Occupational Health Complex in ONGC Mangalore Petrochemicals Ltd ( OMPL ), Mangalore SEZ, Mangalore, which is a central government based refinery which produces and refines numerous highly dangerous chemical by products of petroleum and hydrocarbon derivatives.RESPONSIBILITIES INVOLVEDLeading a team of doctors, staff nurses and first-aiders to manage and monitor the health of 1500+ employees and contract workers assigned to oversee the functioning of the petrochemical plant which runs 24x7, 365 days of the year.Management of Accident and Emergencies which take place in and around the Refinery which mainly consisted of chemical burns, Fall from height, machine cut injuries and Cardiovascular emergencies. Annual Health Evaluations and Risk Assessment of all the employees in OMPL with special emphasis on conditions like DM, HTN, early changes in cardiac dysfunction and cancer surveillance as they work with cancer causing chemicals ( hydrocarbons ).Conducting Health Awareness Programmes on a bi-weekly basis for all employees and contract workers as part of a primordial/primary prevention of diseasesInstructor for the BLS teaching programme held for employees on a monthly basis as part of FIRE & SAFETY protocol in the Refinery.Hygiene inspection and assessment to prevent any infectious disease/outbreaks.Administrative Duties include, monthly audits on the cases and incidents/accidents reported, regular follow-ups of patients with chronic illnesses.
