The EPICS program gives students of various engineering disciplines the chance to help a community partner solve a problem through the engineering design process.I am currently on the Wheels2Africa team. Our goal is to create a wheelchair powered assist for students in South Africa that suffer from cerebral palsy. These students have limited movement in the Conamore school, and we want to create an attachment to their wheelchair so that they can move indpendently with limited motor control.As the software lead my job was to program the Arduino joystick and connect that to our DC motor. This last year we were able to configure the wheel so that it would move forward and back and side to side with the right movement from the joystick.

CurrentI am an Honors Devil or a tour guide for the Barrett Honors College at ASU. My role is to provide weekly tours for prospective students and show the Barrett complex. I highlight the students, faculty, culture, food and much more amazing facts about the Barrett experience to provide students an opportunity to make an informed college decision.Our role as a tour guide is not to make them come to Barrett, but to rather help students with their college decision process. It is very stressful for many students so this tour is an opportunity for students to learn about Barrett and envision themselves being here for the next 4 years.
