My research focuses on thermodynamics and kinetics of various metallurgical processes, ranging from glass formation from metallic liquids, oxidation processes and solid state phase transformations. My previous research areas include environmental degradation of polymer composites and fatigue of steels. I use a variety of experimental techniques such as electron microscopy, thermal analysis, x-ray diffraction and a number of processing routes, both from powders and from the melt. The key theoretical tools of my research involve semi-empirical thermodynamics, ab-initio calculations and mathematical modeling.
