As a Steward, I ensured the safety of students at university social events without being physically involved due to regulations. My role meant that I assessed and observed potential risks and escalated these to higher authorities so the issue could be resolved by the appropriate teams. Other duties included set up, close up and doing security sweeps at the end of the event. As a security steward I handled the pressure of managing the constant incoming flow of around 4500 students to prevent injuries and ensure that the rules and regulation required were adhered to.

Loughborough Tamil Society, is a community in which people were able to come together to celebrate our Tamil culture as well as share their own. As the Social Secretary I planned, organised and executed events with the help of my team. This included being able to complete comprehensive plans including risk factors, numbers based off statistics from previous years, presenting the idea clearly and communicating amongst the members to allow for feedback. Once approved, I delegated tasks effectively to a team of 7 individuals by assessing my peers' weaknesses and strengths.I organised the most successful event, Aura, between myself and my peers'. For this event I had to network with various people and businesses to be able to provide entertainment, advertising and much more. During this event I ensured the welfare of all 300 people that attended, as well as successfully supervising all logistics of the event in a punctual manner.In my role I attended networking events with our partner ANBU UK as a representative of Loughborough Tamil Society creating and maintaining valuable contacts.

In this role I dealt with taking orders, both over the phone and in store. As a take away store I encountered different customers and learned to deal with individuals in various scenarios. I also had to ensure orders were placed and ready to go in a timely manner. This was even more crucial between 6-10pm; during the busiest hours there were customer's queueing in store as well as calling in, so setting time expectations was very important, as well as being able to answer all queries and orders, meeting the deadline and Domino's delivery time promise!I was able to build on my communications skills in this role as often I required customers to repeat orders, give call backs on larger orders and deal with complaints that came in through the phone. I was a team player in this role, as it was essential for me to do my job perfectly so that the team in the Kitchen could ensure the right products were delivered to customers.
