Pravin Pillay is the founder and Creative Director of MOVE37XR - a networked-based not-for-profit creative studio and emerging media research lab. Pravin is also the co-founder and Managing Director of Humanitas Smart Planet Systems – a venture capital firm investing in climate and social technology SMEs. He currently serves as the Senior Advisor: Technology, Innovation, and Strategy at the Global Centre of Indigenomics and is involved with the Dahdelah Institute for Global Health Research as a Community Fellow focussing on Planetary Health and Global ForesightingPravin maintains a professional contemporary art practice that maps the space at the nexus of emerging technology, consciousness, and nature.With more than 35 years of experience as a social entrepreneur and longtime member of the Social Venture Institute and co-facilitator of Media that Matters, Pravin focuses on cultivating conscious organizations and growing networks working on progressive interdisciplinary projects across private, public, and not-for-profit sectors. He strives to enable the thoughtful and pragmatic application of emerging advanced technologies. Pravin worked to help establish Doctors Without Borders in Canada and was then recruited to be the Director of Special Projects with Youth Service Canada. From there he went on to serve as the Executive Director of the Rediscovery International Foundation.Pravin holds a B. Arts and Science from McMaster University, a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, an MBA from McGill University, and an MFA from the University of Saskatchewan. Pravin has sought to understand the real-world transformational impact of systems-based artworks and collaborated with Human-Computer Interaction engineers to conduct art-science experiments at the intersection of media, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
