This includes reviewing technical tests, conducting interviews, and identifying qualified candidates at all levels.I lead Olio's bi-weekly Backend & Infrastructure chapter meetings, planning, coordinating, and giving presentations, fostering knowledge sharing and team collaboration across otherwise siloed teams.Technical Achievements:+ I implemented a vector-based search, using Qdrant's Vector Database and OpenAI's embedding generation, enhancing user-generated content discoverability.+ I spearheaded the integration of OpenAI's ChatGPT into our user reporting pipeline, significantly reducing manual review time.+ Leveraging Google's BigQuery, I implemented reliable scheduling of user procedures, asynchronous polling with exponential back off timing and the automated processing of result sets into the existing Flag Reporting systems. The aim of which was the prevention of bad actors, within the user base, from exceeding food allocation quotas.+ Integrated Gander's reductions into our listings API; 300 stores syncing 10,000+ reductions per day in a performant, scalable and expandable manor.+ I took ownership of core components, conducting multiple major upgrades to Ruby on Rails and Ruby language versions. + I "Dockerized" the monolith for development, streamlining developer onboarding and creating a consistent development environment. Generating many millions of US Dollars per year in donations and… Show more Built by Buffalo is a development agency specialising in complex projects for national and international clients - including companies residing in The United States of America, Kenya, Germany, France, China and the United Kingdom.In my current role with Built by Buffalo, along with my work on new projects, I am responsible for the ongoing support and development of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust website redevelopment. Generating many millions of US Dollars per year in donations and electronic adoptions, the website comprises up to 80% of the charities annual income.The site is a large Rails monolith comprising a custom backend CMS, allowing full maintenance of the frontend shop with a varied and flexible checkout, as well as 3rd party newsletter integration, custom news content builder and blueprint based page builder. The original site dated back to 2002 and I was required to import more than three hundred thousand previous adoptions as well as tens of thousands of donations in varying states of completeness and quality.Travelling to Kenya as part of the development process, I was able to gain a full understanding of not only the needs of the donors, but those of the administrative staff who use the application every day.
