Profile bio

About William Campbell

I come from the Construction & Manufacturing/Automotive fields, focusing on Preconstruction Technologies - BIM, CAD & Laser Scanning (terrestrial and patented aerial), using my operations management and end-user background, to create productivity-boosting, cost-cutting and revenue-generating results.I have managed countless BIM & VDC projects/groups in the U.S. and Internationally over the past 17 years. Although some of the earlier ones were not considered "BIM" quite yet, due to it not being a buzzword, as it is now. Regardless, we were inserting intelligence into 3D models for real-time Bill of Material & Quantity reports, Virtualization of Sequencing Animations, Hyperlinking & embedding XML Metadata into Equipment for FM applications, since 2003.I am adept at sifting through the endless technology in our market today, differentiating the 'cutting-edge' from the 'bleeding-edge'. I regularly write for industry magazines & publications - articles or joint-findings/research results on numerous subjects - mostly related to Technology in the AECO market. A few are Autodesk, ENR, Building Design + Construction. I have been a Content Manager for Autodesk User Group International’s magazine ‘AUGIWorld’ since 2008.My democratic leadership style has proven to foster top-talent, and bring them together to achieve a common goal for the good of the company.

Listed skills include Bim, Autocad, Cad, Navisworks, and 32 others.

Mixing UAVs / Drones & LiDAR-based 3D Laser Scanning & the generated Point Clouds, Image/Object recognition, and technology augmented Facilities Maintenance.** Come see William at Stanford University on Sept 15-16th, speak about analyzing the unique, real-life patterns within point cloud data, and autonomously comparing them to one another, using quasi-quantum analytics. He will be speaking specifically to point clouds generated from a Drone, that's equipped with a compact 3D Scanning sensor. This is being presented for the Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE)'s Summer Program 2015. This years' topic is "Opportunities for automation in design, construction and facility operations". Hope to see you there!http://cife.stanford.edu/** Come check out William at the 'Commercial UAV Expo' in Las Vegas, as he will be speaking about the analysis/comparison of inherently unique patterns within aerially-scanned point clouds of real-life objects - scanned from a Drone -, that are analyzed, catalogued into sub-sets, and automatically embedded with specific, XML Metadata and properties/information that was previously stored in the drone's CPU from a previous mission. He will be talking about how we can utilize this technology for Facilities Management on AEC Projects. The commercial UAV Expo is held on Oct 5-7th. www.expouav.comIf you are looking for more information about SkyDAR™ and its patented, proprietary technology and application/system, please email me at william@skydar.com - or call (408) 357-3593

Owner/Senior Designer

Novi, Mi, Us

Ghost Industries is an engineering services group that focuses on Construction Management, MEP Building Engineering, Building Information Technology & Enhanced Blockchain verification systems. Its main group, the Building Information Technology and Preconstruction Management group, focused on BIM/VDC and the different facets of building design implemented through CAD software that bring it's overall business structure together. We worked with subcontractors, general contractors, building owners and consultants - to ensure that they met their BIM delivery and specific bid requirements for each project, where they otherwise could not meet based on their current staff and resources/experience. We worked in the background for these companies (this is where the name 'Ghost' was partially conceived), ensuring that they met their final deliverables for BIM "internally". I personally started this company in 2008, and we officially closed our doors in 2011. I was a part of every project that we won, and personally oversaw each from an engineering and technical aspect, and from the project management, estimating, scheduling and final deliverable preparation aspect as well.

Director Of Technologies

Dallas, Texas, Us

As 'Director of Technologies, Preconstruction - MEPF & BIM' at Balfour Beatty Construction, I focused on the continued growth of their current and future success, as it relates to preconstruction activities and technologies, surrounding BIM, AR, VR, SaaS, PaaS, VDC, MEPF+ & more. My roles involved researching & implementing current and new technologies into my division's Workflow, working within the Innovation Champions group and our Center of Excellence - focusing on implementing our Scaleable Capabilities into each project. I was also heavily focused on Business Development as a whole for the Northern California division. I was working with our regional and international counterparts/divisions to help take groundbreaking strides in the right direction with a bipartisan effort from all of the experienced professionals at Balfour Beatty Construction.

Corporate Bim Manager

Pasadena, Ca, Us

Worked at the Northern California office of ACCO Engineered Systems, serving as Corporate BIM Manager. Between the BIM Engineering Services group, the VDC group, and the Piping & Sheet Metal CAD Detailing departments - I had over (40) very talented employees to support & oversee, along with day-to-day activities to complete, including Researching/Implementing current & future trending industry technology & processes, aligning group focus, internal & external training, hiring, software/hardware infrastructure, cost management, et al - all ensuring ACCO's current and future BIM technology and processes remain at the the forefront of the industry. I also supported and oversaw our niche & creative "BIMTech" Group (BIM Research & Development) - which is focused on maintaining their numerous BIM9-based 'ACCO BIMCloud' servers & Virtual Machines (cloud-based, SaaS computing), future BIM technologies, proprietary programming/infrastructure development utilizing Autodesk's SDK, API & ADN resources, tablet systems and database management, generating ROI reports on this technology, and programming tools within the software that maximize the BIM, Detailing & Engineering groups' productivity. My primary, core function was to support their extremely valuable BIM, VDC & CAD Detailing employees, managing costs associated with BIM and Detailing for their projects, and making sure that they were meeting/exceeding expectations - ultimately serving as a support & 'go-to' resource for these strong and trusted employees.
