Provide strategic vision, scientific leadership and communicate institutional programs and activities to science + policy audiences.Previously responsible, as U.S. Health Attaché and Regional Representative (2017-2023), for in-country representation, monitoring and coordination of the policy, programs and research interests of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in coordination with other U.S. and host government, private sector and non-profit institutions engaged in life sciences, public health and product safety. Coordinated regional COVID-19 pandemic response including for U.S. regional donations and bolstering supply chains for medical countermeasures; finalized bilateral arrangements advancing joint work in diabetes, environmental health, infectious diseases and food/medical product safety; fostered joint initiatives on vision, access to medicines, digital health; mental health, cancer, and integrative medicine; organized and implemented high-level bilateral Health Dialogues; and advanced the U.S. health agenda at multilateral fora including the G-20, QUAD, and World Health Assembly.Prior to this, led the development, oversight, and evaluation of South Asia regional programs for research and training for the U.S. National Cancer Institute, recognized by the NCI Director's Award for exceptional leadership in marshaling trans-NCI collaboration to foster cooperation in cancer research. Dr. Rajaraman’s research on molecular epidemiology and policy has resulted in over 135 publications in international peer-reviewed journals. She has served on the Scientific Advisory Committees of the International Brain Tumor Epidemiology Consortium (BTEC), the U.S. Childhood Cancer Survivor Study (CCSS), and International Advisory Boards for the Lancet Oncology, and Fulbright Scholarship. Dr. Rajaraman is an expert member of Committee 1 (Biological Effects) of the International Commission of Radiation Protection, and serves on the Advisory Board of the South East Asia Regional Registry hub for the International Agency for Research in Cancer (WHO-IARC).Dr. Rajaraman has a Ph.D. in cancer and molecular epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health (Delta Omega), an M.Sc. in Environmental Health from the University of Washington, and a BA in Biology (Phi Beta Kappa) from Reed College, Portland OR.
