As an event planner, I'm frequently asked how I got started in this industry. It's a question that always brings me back to my childhood and the memories of the events my family used to organize.Growing up in a joint family, events were a regular part of my life. Be it family gatherings or community celebrations, my grandfather was the one who always divided the responsibilities to ensure that the events were a success. He would assign tasks to each family member, including me, to make sure that everything ran smoothly.I remember feeling a sense of excitement and satisfaction when an event turned out well. It was the joy of seeing people come together, having a good time, and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Little did I know that those early experiences would shape my future.When I started college, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I spent my first two years exploring various subjects, but nothing really clicked. However, during my sophomore year, I started working with an event management agency, and that's when I found my calling.Working for a small organization was challenging, to say the least. Long hours, tight deadlines, and little work-life balance were the norm. But despite the challenges, I loved my job. There was never a shortage of things to do, and I was constantly learning and growing. The experience was unparalleled, and I knew that I had found my passion.Fast forward a few years, and I've been fortunate enough to work on some incredible events, from weddings to corporate conferences. Each one has been a unique journey, filled with its own set of challenges and rewards.After spending many years in the event industry and experiencing every facet of it, I knew that it was time to take the next step and launch my own venture. There was a feeling inside of me that I had what it takes to run my own business. I had the experience, the passion, and I was already putting in the hours. But I won't lie, the road to get here was not always easy. There were times when I asked myself, "Why am I doing this?" and days leading up to the launch of my business where I questioned, "What are you doing?" However, I've come to realize that there is so much opportunity out there.It's been a journey of shifting my attitude from "But, why me?" to "Hell, why not me?" I am excited to see where this entrepreneurial journey takes me and my business, Revel and Joy. Despite the challenges, I am determined to make a success of it and bring joy to people's lives through unforgettable events.
