Lady Hardinge Medical College Jun 2024 - Jul 2024
🌟 I’ve just completed my first internship in a clinical setting, and it has been a truly transformative experience. Working directly with patients daily provided invaluable hands-on learning—from actively engaging in case studies to mastering grounding techniques like box breathing and star breathing. I also gained proficiency with assessment tools for conditions like substance abuse and OCD, which deepened my understanding of the diverse challenges individuals face. One of the most striking realizations was seeing the large number of people seeking help for mental health concerns. Despite the misconception that mental health issues are a ā€œrich person’s issue,ā€ my experience here tells a different story. For every individual who comes forward, countless others remain unseen, especially in rural areas where stigma and limited awareness keep many from seeking help. This experience has also highlighted the critical role of cultural sensitivity in mental health care. Understanding patients’ cultural backgrounds—their rites, rituals, and beliefs—bridges gaps and fosters trust, which is essential for effective care.A heartfelt thank you to Lady Hardinge Medical College for this incredible opportunity. Your guidance and support have been instrumental in shaping my understanding and commitment to mental health care.
