Research Assistant to Professor Jarvenpaa. The project involves a literature review of a wide variety of multisided platforms such as Uber, Airbnb, Android, and IOS. The focus is to understand the influence that stakeholders in the external environment have on the platform's actions. Seven conditions from the platform's external environment will specifically be researched: laws and regulations, social norms and values, community-based collective action, traditional and social media, partnerships, competitive dynamics, and technology advancements. In addition, we will be exploring exciting observations on how these conditions have resulted in the platforms expanding or limiting their boundaries.
