About Shirley Smith, Bs, Csac
Our mission is to build healthier lives to see youth, families, and individuals living their lives drug free. We carry out this mission by providing programs and services for youth, young adults, families and individuals to inspire them to become positive and contributing members of society through healthy alternative activities, job training, education, counseling and support. We are a 501(c)3 non-for-profit, founded in 1996 to combat the ever-growing problem of substance use disorders in our communities. The Director networks with local and out of state referral agencies/ assisting individuals and law-enforcement, mental health, parole officers, social services and other agencies with referrals and support for their clients with addictions. His Ministries is a community service worksite, providing individuals a place to work so they can pay off their past fines. This gives them the ability to move forward in their lives and becoming more productive in their community. Families and individuals are provided education/information on addictions. The Director as a personal knowledge of Hepatitis C and Liver Transplants. Developed a curriculum program for substance abuse education taught along with the AA/NA program for classes taught weekly at the Duffield Regional Jail, Virginia. The Edge Teen Center Music Venue provides youth an encouraging safe, drug free environment to hang out with their peers. In addition, The Edge is a student training program. The training program provides work and life skills training through the operation of a Music Venue, thrift store and community activities. His Ministries' partners with Peoples Incorporated, Wise Drug Court, The Wise Works Program, Social Services' TANF View Program and the community service board, allowing us to assist more in our community. We believe education, assisting area families, and providing education and training is the key to fighting our communities’ substance use disorders.
