About Judy Preston
Judy has been working in the environmental field doing community-based conservation in Connecticut for over 25 years. An experienced local conservationist, Judy consults to provide natural resource inventories and management plans, ecological garden and landscape design, and environmental outdoor experiences for small groups. She is employed fulltime at the Long Island Sound Study and Connecticut Sea Grant where she provides public outreach and education on the environmental issues facing Long Island Sound. Judy offers the Coastal Certificate, an accreditation program for Master Gardeners and people interested in sustainable gardening practices, in conjunction with local partners through the UConn Extension Master Gardener Program. From 2015 to 2018 Judy joined the CT Council on Soil and Water Conservation to coordinate and implement the Long Island Sound Watershed Regional Conservation Partnership Program, a six-state, multiple partner initiative to reduce runoff and nutrient loading to LIS from working lands in the watershed. Judy has also taught Environmental Science and Sustainable Landscape Ecology at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, CT.
