Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist
-Teaming with Clatsop Community College We have developed a 5 day Transitional Assistance Program (TGPS), That provides Local services, Unemployment information, College information, Veterans (TGPS) and DOL (TAP) services to the United States Coast Guard This program awards 3 college credits FREE (Transcripts) upon completion. Clatsop Community College will work with all colleges assisting them in establishing this process. -Local Transportation Committee member, Work on developing recommendation to send to the Board of Directors for their approval, As a member of the Senior and Disabled Services Committee I have been able to insure that the transportation short comings assisting our veteran population in Clatsop county has been improved 75%. We have improved transportation in 2 key areas. local transport to our VA Clinic, and by working with Disabled American Veterans ( who operation the shuttle 100 miles one way to the main region facilities is Portland/Hillsboro/Vancouver) established a direct connection to improve VA services transporting veterans to and from those key facilities. - We have put together a Support team for the Tillamook County Jail system that allows veterans to receive priority of Service and intensive service again the goal is to quickly react and provide support groups to assist veterans and reduce recidivism within the County corrections systems.-We know offer the GPS-TAP training to the State correctional Facilities, through this 4 phased project I was able to become an adjunct professor. The purpose is to reduce Recidivism for veterans within the Oregon State Correctional division.
