I grew up on the central plains of Texas, served 6-years in the US Navy, and graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Nuclear Engineering. I’ve been to 14 different countries and catapulted off the USS George Washington in an airplane.Drawing inspiration from Ray Dalio’s Principles, I use Connection, Collaboration, and Sustainability as reminders that people, teamwork, and a growth environment are important balances for me. I’ve spent most of my career generating clean electricity at nuclear stations – Susquehanna Steam Electric Station and Sequoyah Nuclear Plant. I’ve held leadership roles in Operations, Work Management, Maintenance and been a Plant Manager, where we focused on equipment reliability and capital improvement in a high-reliability environment. At INPO, I consulted on leadership and teamwork, helping the best organizations and the underperforming organizations. Learning from both was such a valuable experience and taught me what good organizational effectiveness looks like. For the last several years, I’ve worked at the TVA corporate office, initially as the technical advisor to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), then as Director, Safety providing enterprise governance, oversight, and support of safety. My current role is really a perfect culmination of my career experiences. As the Director, Strategic Operational Solutions, I work with an amazing group of people focused on fusing technology and innovation into our business processes to make us better. My groups include Operational Technology for COO, Work Execution, Enterprise Programs, Internal Consulting, the Project Management Office, and our Engineering Labs. My two big bucket list items are to through-hike the Appalachian Trail and circumnavigate the world in a sailboat (preferably over a 3-year period, because who wants to rush it!).
