While working as Product Photographer for Barefoot Dreams, a new collection was released at the same time the company’s flagship store was opening in Malibu. Our team needed products to be photographed with the same type of beachy aesthetic as the interior designers sought to create within the retail store. Maintaining the brand aesthetic was important to the marketing team and the CEO, so I suggested to our team that we move our photoshoot from the studio to one of Malibu’s most famous beaches, Point Dume. Although we had to carry all our equipment quite far and time it right with the tide, the resulting photographs demonstrated a complementary relationship between the natural beauty of Malibu and the corresponding comfort invoked by Barefoot Dreams’ clothes, blankets, and bedding. Knowing that the store and website might benefit from having landscape photographs of this environment to complement the product photography, I captured some photographs of the cliffs, waves, and beach life that were eventually blown up and put on permanent display in the store. This resulted in a cohesive vibe in the store and an aesthetically pleasing relationship between the products, their images in our catalogs, and the artwork on the flagship store’s walls—a relationship that would imply to customers that Barefoot Dreams had its roots as a local business with strong ties to Malibu. While working as an Inventory Manager at Barefoot Dreams’ corporate office, we received customer complaints on occasion about the price of our luxury products or the damage that they received in transit. One of my responsibilities included responding to customer complaints, as a poor review online could harm our sales and ultimately injure the reputation our company worked so hard to build. Ensured that customers would never leave a phone call dissatisfied. By finding common ground with customers, I was able to alleviate their dissatisfaction and work with them to find a solution that made them happy. Whether reordering the item for them at a discounted price, offering a discount code for future services, or asking them what they would like me to do, I never let a customer leave my calls without feeling as if I had truly resolved their problems. Following up with them later through email or phone, I helped to prevent potential public relations problems and promote the Barefoot Dreams brand as one that truly cares first and foremost about its customers.
