I utilised R and GCTA on high performance computing Linux cluster to perform genome-wide association study for milk yield in dairy sheep, found a few significant single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with milk yield. I utilised different open source genomics databases to perform gene annotation, identified several genes that can potentially be candidate genes for further studies. I utilised the same tools and methods for milk fat and milk protein, which exceeded the initial expectation (genome-wide association study for milk yield). I wrote reports and presented findings to the team and the whole campus. I worked under supervision from two supervisors and within a team at AgResearch. I attended weekly team meetings. I also got recognised for hard-work and strong commitment by the supervisors

I independently and collaboratively worked in a team of four students to deliver all project deliverables with the final report exceeding the mentor’s and client’s expectations. I used Tableau for visualization of the report (graphs, plots, maps, tables, etc). I also performed statistical analysis (exploratory data analysis, modelling) using R program on open source data to answer the client’s question of interest (how different factors contribute to victimization in New Zealand, and thus affect the housing market).

I marked assignment scripts and constantly communicated with the course coordinators and other markers to ensure accuracy and consistency in markings. I wrote reports and recommendations regarding common errors made by students and areas they needed to improve. I got recognised for hard-work and attention to details by the course coordinators.

I collaborated with the underwriting team and other teams to provide high standard insurance service to the customers, and customer satisfaction was high which led to company achieved its sale target on a regular basis. I was able to learn new skills (underwriting, insurance) efficiently and effectively. I got full authority to make underwriting decision (without co-signature of senior underwriters) for particular applications after less than 3 months of working (thus reduced the turnaround time of application).
