Used VHF antennae and telemetry to monitor CA Condor individuals in the Southern California population at two remote field sites in Ventura and Kern counties. Tasks involved hauling carcasses at feeding sites, observing feeding, nesting, free-flying, and newly released CA Condors using a specified ethogram for note-taking. Hiked in rugged terrain, camped, and used GPS for wildlife biology purposes.

I traveled to Baja California Sur with a team of seven biology students from University of Ensenada and Dr. Winifred Frick and Paul Heady the bat biologists. We collected data on the pollination of cardon cactus by leptonycteris and pallid bats to compare pollinator effectiveness between the two species.

I assist Grad Student at UCSC Tara Cornelisse with her research on the endangered Ohlone Tiger Beetle (Cicindela ohlone). By doing surveys, comparing data, and studying population ecology and life history we develop adaptive management techniques to combat further extinctions of metapopulations.

Environ. Studies I assisted Winifred Frick in her research on bat ecology in California. My internship activities involved designing a study protocol for acoustic monitoring of forest bats using an acoustic monitoring system in the Forest Ecology Research Plot on UCSC. Specific skills: acoustic data management, familiarity with Song Meter II, Sonobat software for bat call analysis.

I led a discussion section of 24 students covering evolution, plant & animal adaptations, populations & communities, predation, pollination, and conservation. I also made exam questions for midterms and final, attended lectures and a weekly meeting with all staff members.

As outside services, I assisted patrons as they arrived and managed the driving range shuttle van.
