Experienced engineering academic and industrial consultant. Involved in the multidisciplinary field of tribology (study and application of the principles of friction, lubrication and wear) since 1987. Major research interests are fundamental studies of lubrication, friction and wear; application of tribology to engineering system design, efficiency, durability and reliability; the tribology of internal combustion engines; and polymer tribology. Member of the Executive Team and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Digital Technologies at the University of Bradford since 2016. Responsible for a Faculty comprising Engineering (biomedical and electronics, chemical, civil and structural, and mechanical & energy systems), Computer Science (including AI, big data, cybersecurity, IoT and software engineering) and Media Design and Technology (film, TV, games, animation, AR/VR).
