Worked on the fabrication of thin film Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSCs) that aim for increased efficiency and lower cost production. These solar cells have applications for indoor power usage, small devices, and optoelectronics. Assisted in experiments that sought to modify either the photoanode layer or counter electrode layer with the most promising results coming from adding a class of semiconducting materials known as sulvanites on top of the mesoporous titanium dioxide photoanode. This research culminated into an article that displayed the effectiveness of incorporating Cu3VSe4 nanocrystals into the photoanode which showed a 14.28% increase in efficiency from reference solar cells.

Probed the electrically tunable properties of ferromagnetic nanomaterials by using experimental methods governed by magneto-optical effects under the supervision of PhD students in Dr. Manh-Huong Phan's research group. This has applications to spintronics, materials science, and medical technology. With the team, I helped design and construct a new experiment to study novel thin film magnets and their properties by employing a current-controlled version of the magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE) experiment. This is typically quantified by observing the change in light polarization of a reflected laser beam incident on the surface of these thin film magnets when placed in a changing magnetic field. However, our experiment was modified to also run current through the magnetic thin film to identify the origin of multiple-phase coexistence in magnetic materials, namely Fe3GeTe2. I was happy to present some of these findings in a poster at the STEMS 2023 symposium.
