Based on a sampling from community groups within the Santa Ana River Watershed, the study collected, analyzed, and reported community members’ narratives of local water-related strengths, needs, and opportunities. Ethnographic interviews were conducted in collaboration with partnering organizations. These interviews were guided a set of open-ended questions and prompts, designed to elicit narrative responses on broad topics such as “community strengths” and “water stories.” This approach created an opportunity for respondents to talk about issues, strengths, and needs not already anticipated by the project partners. Based on analysis of this data, recommendations were made to SAWPA about the most pressing issues and opportunities for water agency projects and capacity building.Responsibilities included:-Assisting with facilitation and note-taking at community listening workshops, on-site interviews, and other data gathering activities around the watershed. -Processing and transcribing data from interviews and workshops. -Coding and analyzing data. -Assisting with background research and writing up reports based on findings. -Participating in project support meetings with other interns and fellows participating in the multiple parts of the project.
