A good read can change your life in various aspects, even ones you didn't expect.Growing up in a household where my father, mother, and younger sister loved to read — I never ran out of good reading. All those books, magazines, and newspapers (and even some brochures my father randomly brought home) helped open the mind of this girl from a small developing town.Naturally, the love for reading expands into the love for writing. I would write small "silly" stories in my spare time, unapologetic for how my imagination ran wild. It got sharper, and more realistic once I entered college and read the "serious," academic texts.I was allowed to help manage two national psychology journals — GamaJoP and GamaJPP — at Gadjah Mada University for three years. My experience there gave me opportunities to improve my writing and editing skills. The job made me realize that, despite its surface differences, academic and non-academic writings aim to achieve the same thing — to make readers understand the key message. Such knowledge applies to my professional development as a copywriter, even after I left my job managing scientific journals. I am constantly learning to become an intentional writer who puts oneself in the reader's seat, while simultaneously producing content. It pushes me to continuously challenge my own thought process, which is a humbling journey.
