Mentors constitute the fundamental framework of the structure, being indispensable to the mentoring team. This dynamic assembly of enthusiastic and committed individuals serves as the lifeblood, driving the team's operations. Positioned at the forefront of each corridor, mentors serve as the initial point of contact, wielding significant influence in the guidance of first-year students. With an average allocation of around 10 mentees per mentor, their pivotal role revolves around ensuring a seamless transition for newcomers into the university environment. Leveraging their personal experiences and specialized training, mentors deliver guidance through both group and one-on-one sessions. The responsibilities of mentors encompass:1. Regularly checking in on mentees, either weekly or bi-weekly.2. Safeguarding the well-being of the first-year students under their care.3. Attending all mandated meetings, training sessions, and workshops.4. Active participation in the planning and execution of various events.5. Tracking of mentoring hours invested.6. Proposing innovative ideas to enhance the overall structure.

My role as a web designer involves creating and designing websites. My primary focus is on the visual aesthetics, user experience, and overall layout of websites. I do my work using WordPress which is a content management system that allows users to create and manage websites easily due to its user-friendly interface, flexibility, and extensive plugin ecosystem.I receive wireframes from my fellow developers which outline the structure and layout of the website. Then I use graphic design software to create the website ensuring it has visually appealing elements such as color schemes, typography, images, and other visual content. It's also my responsibility to ensure the site is responsive, adapting to various screen sizes and devices for an optimal user experience. From there, a senior developer will conduct usability testing to identify and address any issues related to the user interface, navigation, and overall design to make certain we can deploy the best possible site we can.

I applied for work at Matrix to get more practical experience on dealing with computers and various electronics. Throughout my time, I was able to learn how to wire RJ45 LAN cables; install various components on a computer motherboard such as RAM, CPU, CPU fan & PSU then wire them to each other their respective ports on the motherboard and ultimately assemble a desktop from scratch. I learnt how to change laptop screens, clone hard drives for upgrades e.g., from an HDD to SSD; load software such as Windows OS; and the layout of a motherboard.
