Inspired by the vision of the University of Fondwa in Haiti (UNIF) – Haiti’s only rural University – uFondwa USA was organized to raise funds to support UNIF, provide technical assistance to UNIF, and to be ambassadors for UNIF and the development of rural Haiti. Interns will gain marketable skills while contributing meaningfully to the development and long-term sustainability of a non-profit organization whose mission is to support higher education and rural development in Haiti.

Funded by Americorp, my position will provide support services to refugees and immigrants in the New River Valley. My position includes identifying resources throughout the area that are beneficial for newcomers and connecting them to these resources, engaging with organizations and agencies that align with the Center’s goals and connecting them with the immigrant community to facilitate access to these resources, interacting with newcomers to learn about their needs through surveys and focus groups, assisting the newcomer and immigrant community at the Center by providing information and delivery of programs for welcoming and community building, and assisting the director with delivering training sessions and workshops.
