Working on different urban planning projects:- Energy transition and a new prospective vision of the three northern provinces of the Netherlands, a study on how to integrate windmills and solar energy in a city and the surrounding landscape. - an urban planning project of 200 wooden houses orientated to the sun. Car-free zones and subtle interventions on the border of the public and private realm will create a socially sustainable and, above all, a caring neighbourhood. The climate adaptive measures will ensure that during a heavy rainfall the area stays habitable.- a study on augmenting sustainability of obsolete post-war housing with a heritage status in Emmerhout.- Strategic process for the main square in the town of Diever, writing preconditions and frameworks for the design competition: new houses, landscape design and integrated art solutions

Besides the architectural design for passive houses I am responsible for the :- energy calculations in PHPP- heat-loss calculation- EPC calculation - thermal bridge calculations- research on new thinner insulation products- U-value calculations- air tightness of the construction- building permit- design and project management + site supervision- and making passive house (technical) details in a renovation project that still look good+ various projects regarding sustainability consulting :- program of requirements and advice on sustainability for a cultural center in Amsterdam- detailed design drawings for biobased projects for Orga Architect Nijmegen- sustainability advice for a renovation of a conference center.

After a successful competition for a new Biobased building of 25 rooms for a Monastery, I started my own company and moved to France. During my time I did not only design the main building but I was in charge of all building projects :- insulating the old Chateau- 2 biobased mediation huts- temple for 5m high statue- U-value calculations, glaser- 35.000m2 landscape park new road, lake, 700 trees and hedges- helofytenfilter- 50.000L rainwater tank for toilets and washing machines- central wood-fuelled heating system + underground network- all infrastructure for existing and future buildings - changes to the existing temple that it complies with fire, safety and accessibility regulationsEnergy study and Sustainability :Before starting these projects I worked in close collaboration with Robert Celaire Consultants. Together we carried out a comprehensive energy study on the existing and future buildings. We monitored the water and energy consumption to design the most sustainable and custom-made system. The new building is biobased with massive wood walls (CLT), woodfiber-insulation, Fermacell and ecological paints. The outside wood cladding is made of the 15 cedars that had to be cut to build the new building, two fallen oak trees are used for the balustrades. In all projects I was responsible for the sketch design, technical design, building permits, supervision on site and project management. All decisions were made in close collaboration with the monks. Most projects are developed with the help of the monastery's volunteers working under my supervision. The projects of a bigger scale were done by professional companies under my guidance.

Assistent-designer / UrbanplannerAt Inbo Architecten Stedenbouwkundigen I worked on several projects from landscape design to zero energy houses. From sketch design (SO) to detailed design (DO) including project management and presentations for the municipality and future residents. With all projects I worked intensively with the municipality / client and consultants like building physics, ecologists and other architects.In all projects I focused on sustainability.Projects:- Greenhouse-buildings (kaswoningen) in Amsterdam- Zero Energy Rowhouses (EPC0 woningen) in Amsterdam- Re-development of obsolete city areas (herontwikkeling en inbreiding) Bunschoten haven- Landschapspark de Schans in Westervoort- Zwemvijver de Waaij in Westervoort- Study for floating greenhouses in combination with housingDuring my time at Inbo I also took part in several competitions with Inbo and other architects. And I helped Inbo to start "Atelier Sustainability" and brought sustainability to the attention of fellow employees.

At Hundredhands I worked mainly on Raja Hotel in the city centre of Bangalore. A 6 story boutique hotel with restaurant, rooftop bar and courtyards with a pond. The work on site had just started and my task was to monitor the architectural quality on site (3x a week) and make the final technical design details. I made a set of 87 CAD working drawings which were directly used by the builders on site. Floorplans, sections, technical details and the elevations of bathrooms and bedrooms etc..Half way construction the client bought the neighbouring plot and we had to re-design the hotel (under construction) with a new extension.At Hundredhands I learned how to design cost-effectively and the importance of local materials and energy concepts.

At Gregory Burgess Architects I worked as the chief model maker in close relation with Gregory Burgess. Translating his sketches to 3d cardboard models from 1:500 to detailed models 1:20. I re-touched floorplans and facades of all projects since 1973 for the upcoming book about Gregory Burgess. And I assisted in competitions and presentations drawings.
