The Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service is the most comprehensive outreach and engagement program at the University of Kentucky.Our mission, simply stated, is to make a difference in the lives of Kentucky citizens through research-based education. Jointly with our other land-grant partner, Kentucky State University, we take the University to the people in their local communities, addressing issues of importance of all Kentuckians.

AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. Authorized in 1964 and founded as Volunteers in Service to America in 1965, VISTA was incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs in 1993. VISTA has been on the front lines in the fight against poverty in America for more than 45 years.VISTA members commit to serve full-time for a year at a nonprofit organization or local government agency, working to fight illiteracy, improve health services, create businesses, strengthen community groups, and much more. With passion, commitment, and hard work, you’ll create or expand programs designed to bring individuals and communities out of poverty.

At Nature's Classroom we give students and teachers the chance to experience education from another perspective, outside the walls of the classroom.Nature's Classroom is a residential environmental education program, at fifteen wonderful sites in New York and New England. Most schools take advantage of our five-day program, while some decide that a shorter stay will work for them. After spending a week at Nature's Classroom, living and learning together, students develop a sense of community, a confidence in themselves and an appreciation for others that carries over to the school community. Over 750,000 children and 450 schools have come to view Nature's Classroom as a solid academic experience, with an emphasis on scientific inquiry and critical thinking. We have been recognized for excellence by the National Science Teacher's Association, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the State of Connecticut.We have been offering the very best in environmental education for 37 years.
