As a teaching assistant my roles and responsibilities are:•Managing the Lab Course for the UG students in the subject of Environmental Microbiology and Environmental Chemistry.•Overall-charge of the undergraduate teaching laboratory for Environmental Sciences.•Responsible for the maintenance of the laboratory and for conducting laboratory courses in consultation with the Institute faculty.•Design and evolve the laboratory curriculum and assist in the conduct of tutorial classes.•Help in course material preparation (both print and electronic versions) and evaluation of students.•Instructor for the topics relating to Environmental Microbiology.•Overseeing to all the Technical and Financial Aspects of the Environmental, Geo-environmental Lab.•Co-coordinating with the vendors to get the best deal and best equipment possible.As a project Associate i worked on different projects like:•Microbiological and Chemical analysis of different Bore wells in IISc Campus and surrounding areas in Bangalore City.•Microbiological and Chemical analysis on the, ‘Efficiency of the Effluent Treatment Plant and Sewage Treatment Plant,’ in IISc Campus.•Microbiological and Chemical analysis of different Bore wells around ‘Nicomet’ Industries’, Goa. •Assisted in the Chemical characterization of Pore Water and Cell water of the mineral Kalaonite.•Assisted in, ’Study of Biological Fixation of Nitrogen by Denitrifying Bacteria’ in different soils in Hydrophobic soils.•Assisted in elimination of oil and grease by microbes. •Study of contamination by Chromium in different sludge & water samples.•Study of Black Cotton Soil- Cation Exchange Capacity, Pore Water Salinity and Organic Content and its influence on the Microbial Population.•Bio-remediation of BTEX compounds by Bacillus, Pseudomonas.•Bioremediation of Hydrocarbons (Trichloroethylene) using microorganisms.•Treatment Strategies for Treatment of Bellandur lake- Bioremediation
