Social Science Specialist
CurrentAs a Social Science Specialist (Crisis Responder) at the Department of Veterans Affairs, I am dedicated to implementing suicide and mental health crisis prevention strategies aimed at reducing incidents of self-harm among veterans. My role involves conducting interviews and utilizing assessment tools to evaluate the emotional, functional, and psychological conditions of veterans, ensuring timely and effective interventions tailored to their needs.I measure data outcomes to provide written justification for revisions to methods and techniques that support public health initiatives and education. By providing psychoeducation, I equip individuals with essential coping strategies and resources during mental health crises.Additionally, I collaborate with members of the VA Crisis Hotline Program to identify and connect veterans with appropriate services, enhancing the overall care and support they receive. I also leverage behavioral and social science theories and techniques to develop new or revised policies that improve mental health services for veterans and their families.
