Lead strategic philanthropic investments in California's Central Valley supporting the bedrock tenets of democracy and advancing equity in education to lift community voice, improve education access, and ensure all people, especially children, have pathways to a fulfilling life in California's Central Valley. The Foundation's mission is to stand with the people of the Central Valley by investing in education and active civic participation in our democracy.

Provide leadership and impact strategy for a place-based grantmaking and community engagement arm for the largest community foundation in the greater Sacramento region. Effectively collaborate with a broad intersection of stakeholders - board members, business/civic/elected leaders, community-based organizations, donors, funders - on community wide issues. Lead large-scale efforts on critical issues affecting the region - arts, education, food access, philanthropic giving- as well as be responsive to urgent community needs and issues. Annual grantmaking up to $11 million/year.

Formulated and directed grantmaking strategy for the first digital divide foundation in the state of California, which was founded out of a telecommunications merger and whose mission is to address “digital divide” issues in underserved communities throughout the state. This innovative grant, education, and civic engagement foundation seeded multiple community-based efforts that were rooted in new applications of telecom technology, broadband, and digital media, fostering the creation of new content, design, and initiatives in addressing health care, education, environment, social justice/civil rights, social enterprise, and community voice.

Provided visionary leadership in the emerging field of telemedicine. Effectively developed relationships with key stakeholders from foundations, rural and urban health organizations, community health facilities, and staff of the University of California toward a common goal of improving healthcare in California. Managed a grant program responsible for fostering the adoption of telemedicine and telehealth programs in community-based hospitals, clinics, and support organizations.Responsible for an $11M statewide grant program throughout California, funding the establishment of the first telemedicine learning center on the West coast at a major health system, coordination of a statewide advisory group representing community leaders, and grants management of multiple clinical and community-based programs.

Responsible for the health education Medi-Cal managed care program in a Geographic Managed Care (GMC) network for a health system-owned HMO (Sutter Health). Oversaw a team of 5 people responsible in a region-wide network of 4 counties for outreach, membership, and health education for GMC-covered members in the health plan. participated in overall health plan operations, that included clinical care, membership outreach, products and services, and education.

Responsible for community, program, public policy/advocacy, and grantmaking services in the 9-county Greater Bay Area chapter, which included managing two board committees of health/maternal and child health professionals representing leading hospitals, clinics, and community-based organizations in the region. Highlights included bringing in state Office of Domestic Violence funding to establish the first-ever shelter for pregnant teens and adolescents experiencing violence; appointed to an at-large leadership capacity on two statewide committees on disability prevention and domestic violence prevention.
