As General Manager, I had responsibility for all Administrative and Operational functions to include HR, Training, Maintenance, Office Management, Contracting, the Budget and Strategic Planning. I worked tirelessly for 5 elected Commissioners. Some of the accomplishments included the writing of a 5-Year Strategic Plan and associated budget, going through the entire design phases for a new base station, development of a new interactive, graphical website for service calls and reduction of response time from 4 days to 1 1/2 days. To enhance transparency in this government position, I worked to get all records online with varying access levels for the public and the employees.

Complied with 7 regulatory permits establishing and maintaining very successful relationships with regulators from JEA, SJRWMD, COJ, FDEP and DOH. Established systems to prepare for shipment, ship and track over 1,000,000 pounds of waste and recycled materials from the plant on an annual basis. With Environmental Manager, led effort to gain ISO 14001 certification and successfully maintained certification during 3 re-certifications. Wrote or updated all of the environmental procedures for the company. Advocated and was able to change the company climate that moved the Environmental Management System from a centralized program to a decentralized system that gave all employees a stake in the success of the company to achieve its environmental goals. Requested permission to characterize laser exhaust for a packaging process, the results of which were used throughout Johnson & Johnson. Worked with Facilities Engineer to save over $900.000 in impact fees from JEA for large quantity users of process water by requesting transfer of already paid fees to a new manufacturing site. Conducted over 300 Environmental and Safety clearances for machine, process and facility changes prior to (re)start-up. Presented Environmental updates at quarterly Worldwide Leadership meetings. Organized and/or presented all environmental training for over 2000 employees including 120+ employees involved in emergency response.
