From joining various diversity and advocacy clubs on campus, to leading the Student Government Association’s efforts in inclusion, to founding my own justice oriented conference, college helped me find and shape my voice as an educator and advocate. Through the example of mentors and peers, I learnt that the success of any community hinges on how well it values, engages, and includes the rich diversity of its constituents. Or in simpler terms: inclusion leads to excellence.Since those formative years, my passion has evolved into a steadfast, lifelong commitment to equity and justice. My colleagues, staff, and supervisors describe me as an enthusiastic, compassionate, and deep thinker with a strong dedication to developing opportunities of inclusive excellence and belonging. As an educator, trainer, and professional engaged in equity and inclusion work, I am devoted to helping co-develop processes and organizations where the multiple identities and experiences of those I work with feel affirmed and valued. I achieve this through thoughtful and collaborative initiatives around recruitment, strategy, programming, and intentional learning & development experiences. I strive to support the individuals I work with in a way that honors their core humanity and celebrates them as partners in learning and inclusion. I believe in a relationship centered approach to inclusive excellence and learning & development that is able to bridge differences and help individuals define their own narrative as a person and a professional. This core lens allows me to actively employ a professional philosophy rooted in empathy, relationship building, and inclusive leadership. I see my role as an educator not merely as a catalyst for changing people, but as a creator of spaces where authentic and inclusive change can occur. I trust that the individuals I work with are experts of their own lived experiences and it is my responsibility to develop and engage them through an intersectional and identity conscious lens that enhances their understanding of self and society so we can work towards a common goal. In my daily practice, I am committed to being identity-conscious and intentionally advocating for inclusion and justice in everything I do.
