Alumni of The Catholic University of America, Washington DC and B.J.Medical College, Pune with 17+ years of experience in leading the Cell Culture and Plant Tissue Culture businesses of HiMedia Laboratories, India. Additional leadership roles in Corporate Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs thereby creating value within and outside the organization.Extensive experience in successfully developing Serum Free Media for Vero, BHK and MDCK cell lines and introducing them in the domestic as well as global market. Also developed Mycoplasma detection and elimination kits.Developed HiViral - Viral transport Medium (VTM) for H1N1 during the 2009 epidemic in a short span of 2 months. This media has been extensively used during the epidemic all over India for transporting patient samples. The VTM kit is currently being used for collecting samples to test for COVID-19 infections. HiMedia is India’s largest validated and certified manufacturer of the VTM kits.Presently involved in developing Serum Free Media, Assay kits, Cells required for manufacturing of Monoclonal Antibodies for cancer. Actively working on developing Serum Free Media for CHO, HEK 293, MRC5 and insect cell lines.Currently working on designing & commercialization of affordable Chemically Defined Serum Free Media and feed for manufacturing high value Biosimilars. (BIRAC Funded project).
