As a literacy and numeracy coach I play a crucial role in supporting teachers and students in developing fundamental skills in reading, writing, and math. Here’s an overview of my role:1. Teacher Support and Development: I work closely with teachers, providing instructional support, coaching, and mentoring.I help teachers integrate best practices and effective teaching strategies to improve literacy and numeracy skills in students. This may involve lesson planning, modeling teaching methods, and offering feedback on classroom instruction.2. Assessment and Data Analysis: As a Literacy and numeracy coach, I analyze student performance data to identify areas where students need improvement. I help teachers interpret this data to inform instruction and address gaps in student learning.3. Curriculum Development and Alignment: As a Coach, I support schools in selecting or developing curriculum materials that align with literacy and numeracy standards. I ensure that these materials are effective, engaging, and accessible for students at varying levels.4. Intervention Strategies: I identify students who are struggling and work with teachers to develop targeted interventions. This might include specialized lesson plans, individualized support, or small-group sessions to address specific literacy or numeracy challenges.5. My position involved teaching science to kids from Form 1 to Form 7.Organising teaching classes,preparing lab activities and being incharge of the laboratory and also being a major part of a health group funded by Fiji School of Medicine(OPIC) that deals with healthy living and eating in high school kids.My task was to promote healthy eating and living in schools by liaisng with the stakeholders and organising events such as Fruit and Water day.As a staff of Science Department i had the responsibilty of preparing exam papers,conducting exams and other activities to promote science.
