Lead the post-training team at OpenAI Research, focusing on--Developing more capabilities from large models to make them more useful to our clients and consumers. Creating cohesive experiences in the rapidly evolving AI space.--Release and improvement of advanced speech models--Building a data flywheel to improve ChatGPT for users--Building powerful and comprehensive model evaluations.--Building a state-of-the-art post-training suite to enable our clients to optimize their own models using their own data and expertise.

I managed engineering teams that built facebook's online data systems. These systems stored all facebook user data such as user profiles, friends, posts, likes, pages, messages, notifications, privacy settings, and meta data for all photos and videos. They powered all facebook web and mobile products such as newsfeed, profiles, privacy, pages, photos, videos, groups, events, messenger, and timeline; collectively serving 5+ billion queries per second with <5ms p95 latency while providing greater than five 9s reliability.I helped conceive technologies and recruit a strong team to scale online data serving systems 1000x over 8 years from 2008 to 2015. We built and scaled various technologies to power facebook's products and services such as: • Graph databases to serve facebook's social graph: TAO, Dragon • Cache infrastructure: Memcache, McRouter • Database infrastructure: MySQL, RocksDB, HBase, MongoRocks, MyRocks • Client abstractions: PHP, C++ and tools • Streaming data services: LogDevice

I managed facebook's online cache and database infrastructure teams and initiated efforts to build infrastructure optimized for facebook’s workloads. I led efforts to improve online data reliability to five 9s and scale it from few clusters in one region to four regions world wide.I helped conceive TAO and migrate the entire facebook product to run on it. I managed efforts that made our database stack >5x more efficient and switch from disk and flash/disk hybrid to pure flash. I built an online performance and reliability monitoring tool that gave birth to Scuba and worked on numerous efforts to make Facebook infrastructure more reliable and efficient.

I was part of a team of 3 that built the backend for facebook chat. I subsequently worked on a variety of infrastructure projects that helped scale facebook such as making memcached infrastructure more efficient for high fanout queries, building performance monitoring tools, creating database load test frameworks, designing a more efficient MySQL database schema and a few other efforts.

Re-wrote Direct3D from scratch with Direct3D 5 introducing the DrawPrimitive API style. Continued to evolve Direct3D by adding multi-texture support in DX6 and HW vertex processing in DX7. Worked with a large set of graphics IHVs during this period to build Direct3D drivers.
