Profile bio

About Priya Persaud

I am an ASIC and FPGA Design Engineer with an academic background in Aerospace Engineering. I have a 4-5 years of various research experiences where I worked in both a physics and small satellite laboratory contributing my skills to assist the labs in reaching their research goals. I also wrote and presented my own research projects at multiple symposiums, competitions and other events.During my time as a design engineer I was given the chance to work closer with space related systems designing FPGAs for various satellites as well as working on ground systems. My FPGA design role provided me a unique opportunity to work on multiple unique designs based on the needs of the program I was assigned to. As a result I interfaced with many multi-disciplinary teams often to discuss changes to requirements and progress. Additionally my role had me working on designs from conception to completion including:• creating initial design requirements specifications• presenting design stages at reviews• writing register transfer level (RTL) using a hardware description language (HDL)• compile and synthesize FPGA designs• generate FPGA images• review verification team notes and generate bug fixes as neededThis expansive list of responsibilities gave me a great understanding of how important stages of design like capturing requirements can be for later stages such as coding - a stage often rushed towards. This coverage also meant I now have a stronger understanding of the engineering design process as a whole. Also, I now have familiarity with multiple other space and ground systems due to the interdisciplinary nature of the teams I was assigned to.
