Windows server technician and SQL Server DBA for the shared services arm of the ACT government.

Worked on aninnovative private cloud-like project to supply high throughput storage and compute to the research community within CSIRO. This role took me away from my comfort zone of SQL Server although I continued to work with the team from my previous role.This role exposed me to linux administration skills and required strong communication skills, both to understand CSIRO researchers unique requirements and in turn to explain to them the projects vision. Following on from the analysis, the researcher requirements needed translation into a technical solution which required a strong working relationship with the project team technical members and technical lead.I also had a large mentoring role working with staff remotely to bring them into the project and empower them to play a strong role.

Performing various duties incl:--Redesign of CSIRO SQL Server environment onto a Vmware virtual infrastructure.--Work closely with Vmware technicians to fully tune the SQL Server environment on virtual infrastructure incl storage performance testing, troubleshooting and best practices.--Perform role of technical project lead for the installation and delivery of the CSIRO.au and internal intranet Sitecore applications incl design of site redundant infrastructure.--Tune existing database management and maintenance procedures to increase efficiency and uptime of environment.Assist with internal Research Private cloud project involving the following:--Assisting with design of infrastructure to ensure a tightly integrated storage/compute specifically targeted at the Scientific Research community--Assessment of Open source Cloud Management Programs (CMP) including Openstack, Cloudstack and Eucalyptus.

Employed as a SQL Server DBA and general windows engineer in the in the Platform Systems Group (PSG)- Windows. Worked as technical lead on a number of projects including the Education "School sync" system.From approx July 2010, performed the role of Service Delivery manager for the group, ensuring that projects were delivered, issues were solved early and accurate reporting on projects was delivered to both project managers and senior management. In this position also acted as 2IC for the team leader of the PSG Windows team.
