About Prodip K. Das

Dr. Das earned his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) in 1998, achieving distinctions such as being Ranked First, receiving Honors, and setting a record for marks. Subsequently, he pursued two master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering, the first from BUET and the second from the University of Alberta. He earned his PhD from the University of Waterloo under the guidance of Prof. Xianguo Li.In his professional journey, Dr. Das initially served as a Lecturer (1998–2001) and later as an Assistant Professor (2001–2007) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at BUET. Subsequently, he held the role of an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory within Dr. Adam Weber’s group from 2010 to 2013 investigating water management and dynamics of water transport in PEM fuel cells and real-time defect detection using infrared thermography. Following his time in the United States, Dr. Das took on the responsibilities of an Assistant/Associate Professor (UK lecturer/senior lecturer) at Newcastle University from 2013 to 2023. Currently, Dr. Das is an Associate Professor specializing in hydrogen energy systems at the University of Edinburgh.Dr. Das' research expertise and interests encompass the broad field of "hydrogen energy systems and electric vehicles," with a specific focus on the thermofluid aspects of fuel cells, electrolyzers, Li-ion batteries, and the recycling and reuse of EV batteries.
